Saving a tooth comes first, with a filling or root canal treatment where possible. When a tooth is too broken, decayed or loose to repair, or a wisdom tooth keeps causing pain and swelling, removing it is often the sensible choice. It takes away the source of pain and infection and lets the area heal.
At Dantiki Dental Clinic, JMS Crosswalk Mall, Sector 93, Dr. Arti Kumari removes teeth under local anaesthesia after checking an X-ray. Some wisdom teeth sit deep in the bone or close to a nerve. If a case needs a specialist, we will guide you.
Patients come for extraction from Sectors 85 to 95, Hayatpur and the rest of New Gurgaon, and from the Dwarka Expressway sectors. The clinic is open every day, including Sunday mornings.

How tooth extraction works at Dantiki
Examine
We check the tooth and take a digital X-ray to see the roots. Tell us about your health and all medicines, especially blood thinners, medicines for bone thinning or cancer, and any past radiotherapy to the head or neck.
Numb
Local anaesthesia numbs the tooth and gum. We start only once the area is fully numb.
Remove
The tooth is gently loosened and lifted out. You should feel pressure but not sharp pain; if you do, more anaesthetic can be given. Some wisdom teeth need a small cut in the gum, removal in pieces and stitches.
Protect
You bite on gauze to control bleeding and help a blood clot form in the socket.
Review
We explain aftercare before you leave, and see you again if stitches need removing.
How long does it take?
Most simple extractions are done in a single visit. A wisdom tooth can take longer, especially if it needs a small cut and stitches. Most people feel much better within a few days to a week. After a wisdom tooth, some soreness, swelling or a stiff jaw can last up to 2 weeks. The bone underneath keeps healing for a few months. Plan to take the rest of the day easy.
Tooth extraction cost in Gurgaon: what affects it
The cost depends on how the tooth needs to come out, so we do not quote a figure before seeing it. After the examination and X-ray, Dr. Arti Kumari explains what is involved and shares the exact estimate before treatment starts.
- Simple or surgical extraction
- Position of a wisdom tooth
- Number of teeth to remove
- Stitches or a follow-up visit
Aftercare after an extraction
- Bite firmly on the gauze for the time advised, usually 30 to 45 minutes.
- For 24 hours, do not spit, rinse hard, smoke, drink alcohol or have very hot drinks, and avoid straws for a few days, so the clot stays in place.
- Hold a cold compress on your cheek, on and off, for the first day.
- Eat soft, cool food and chew on the other side for a few days.
- After 24 hours, rinse gently with warm salt water if advised.
- Call us if bleeding or swelling increases, pain gets worse after the first few days, or you get a fever or a bad taste.
When to get help urgently
- Bleeding that is still heavy after biting firmly on clean gauze for 30 minutes: call the clinic.
- If swelling reaches your eye or neck, or makes it hard to breathe, swallow, speak or open your mouth, go to a hospital emergency department straight away.
- Fever, pus or a bad taste with pain that is getting worse after the first few days: call the clinic the same day.
Outside clinic hours, go to the nearest hospital emergency department.

Extraction: questions patients ask
Does tooth extraction hurt?
The tooth and gum are numbed with local anaesthesia, so you feel pressure and movement but should not feel sharp pain. If you do, tell us and more anaesthetic can be given. Once the numbness wears off, soreness for a day or two is common. Pain relief medicine, if advised, and a cold compress usually help.
Do all wisdom teeth need to be removed?
No. Wisdom teeth that come in straight, have space and can be cleaned are often left alone. Removal is usually advised when one keeps causing gum swelling, has decay that cannot be fixed, or is damaging the tooth next to it. An X-ray shows its position. If a case needs a specialist, we will guide you.
What is dry socket and how do I avoid it?
Dry socket happens when the blood clot in the socket is lost too early, leaving the bone exposed. It causes strong, throbbing pain a few days after the extraction, sometimes spreading towards the ear, often with a bad taste or bad breath. It is more common after wisdom tooth removal and in smokers. To lower the risk, do not smoke for at least 24 hours, and longer if you can, do not rinse hard or spit for the first day, and avoid straws for a few days. If it happens, come back, as the socket can be cleaned and dressed to ease the pain.
I take blood thinners. Can I have a tooth removed?
Usually, yes. Most people on blood thinners can have a tooth removed without stopping them, but tell us before treatment. Do not stop or skip any medicine unless your doctor or dentist tells you to, as these medicines prevent clots and strokes. Dr. Arti may check with your doctor and take extra care to control bleeding. Also mention diabetes, high blood pressure, a heart condition or pregnancy.
Should I replace the tooth after it is removed?
For most teeth, yes. A gap lets nearby teeth drift and tilt, and the tooth above or below can move into the space, which affects your bite. Options include an implant, a bridge or a denture, usually planned once the area heals. Wisdom teeth do not need replacing.
I take medicine for weak bones or for cancer. Does that matter?
Yes, please tell us before any extraction. Some medicines for bone thinning (osteoporosis) or cancer, such as bisphosphonate tablets or drips and denosumab injections, can rarely affect how the jawbone heals after a tooth is removed. Past radiotherapy to the head or neck matters too. Do not stop these medicines on your own. Dr. Arti will plan your treatment with this in mind and may speak to your doctor first.
Can wisdom tooth removal cause numbness?
Lower wisdom teeth can sit close to nerves that give feeling to the lip, chin and tongue. Rarely, removing the tooth can bruise a nerve and cause numbness or tingling. This usually gets better over weeks or months, but very rarely it can be permanent. The X-ray helps Dr. Arti judge this risk, and if a tooth sits very close to the nerve she will discuss referral to an oral surgeon. Tell us if numbness lasts after the anaesthetic should have worn off.
