A crown, often called a cap, covers a tooth that is weak, cracked or root-canal-treated, so it can take chewing force again. A bridge fills a gap by joining a false tooth to crowns on the teeth either side. A denture is a removable set of teeth, full or partial, for when one, several or all teeth are missing.
At Dantiki Dental Clinic, JMS Crosswalk Mall, Sector 93, Dr. Arti Kumari explains which option suits your teeth and why. Ceramic and zirconia crowns are matched to the shade of your own teeth. If you are bringing an elderly parent, the clinic has a wheelchair-accessible entrance and free parking at the mall.
Patients come for crowns and dentures from Sectors 85 to 95, Hayatpur and the rest of New Gurgaon, and from the Dwarka Expressway sectors. The clinic is open every day, including Sunday mornings.

When you may need a crown, bridge or denture
After a root canal
Back teeth treated with a root canal become weaker and usually need a crown to help protect them from cracking.
Cracked or broken tooth
A crack or large break that a filling alone cannot hold together safely.
One or two missing teeth
A bridge can fill the gap if teeth either side are strong, though they are usually trimmed, which cannot be undone.
Many or all teeth missing
A partial or full denture helps you chew, speak clearly and supports your cheeks and lips.
Loose or old denture
Dentures that rub, click or slip may need adjusting or replacing.

How crowns, bridges and dentures are made at Dantiki
Examine
We check the tooth or gap and take a digital X-ray. Any decay or gum problem is treated first.
Prepare
For a crown or bridge, the tooth is shaped under local anaesthesia. Dentures usually need no shaping of your teeth.
Measure
A mould of your teeth is taken and the shade is matched. A temporary cap may protect a shaped tooth meanwhile.
Try in
Dentures are usually tried in before finishing, so you can check the fit, bite and look.
Fit
The crown or bridge is cemented once the bite is right. Dentures are adjusted for comfort, and a few follow-up adjustments are normal.
How many visits does it take?
A crown or bridge usually takes two visits, a few days to a week apart: one to prepare the tooth and take the mould, one to fit it. A new denture usually takes three to five visits over a few weeks, plus short visits afterwards to ease any sore spots. Treatment needed first, such as a root canal, adds time.
Crown, bridge and denture cost in Gurgaon
The cost depends on the type of work and the material, so we do not quote a figure before an examination. After checking your teeth and X-ray, Dr. Arti Kumari explains the options and shares the exact estimate before treatment starts.
- Crown material, such as ceramic or zirconia
- Number of teeth involved
- Full or partial denture
- Root canal or filling needed first
Aftercare
- With a temporary cap, avoid sticky or very hard food on that side.
- Brush twice a day and floss around crowns, using a floss threader under a bridge.
- Do not crack nuts, chew ice or bite supari on crowned teeth.
- Take dentures out at night, brush them gently with mild soap and water instead of toothpaste, and keep them in water.
- Come back if a denture rubs, as small adjustments are normal at first, and get any mouth sore that lasts over three weeks checked.
- Keep regular checkups even with full dentures, as the fit changes over time and the dentist also checks your gums and mouth.

Crowns and dentures: questions patients ask
Do I need a crown after root canal treatment?
For back teeth, usually yes. A root-canal-treated tooth has lost much of its structure and becomes weaker, so a crown helps stop it cracking under chewing force. A front tooth with little damage may only need a filling. Dr. Arti decides after seeing how much healthy tooth is left.
Zirconia, ceramic or metal-ceramic crown: which should I choose?
Both zirconia and ceramic crowns look tooth-coloured. Zirconia is a very strong type of ceramic, often chosen for back teeth that take heavy chewing. All-ceramic crowns can look the most natural, which helps on front teeth. Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns are also strong, but the porcelain can chip over time and show the metal. After the examination, you are told which options suit your tooth and the cost of each.
How long does it take to get used to new dentures?
Most people settle in within a few weeks, though some take longer. At first, dentures can feel bulky, speech may sound a little different and you may make more saliva. Start with soft food cut into small pieces, chewing on both sides at once. Reading aloud helps speech. Sore spots are common early on and are eased with small adjustments.
Should I sleep with my dentures in?
Usually no. Taking dentures out at night rests your gums and lowers the chance of soreness and fungal infection under the denture. Clean them and keep them in a cup of water so they do not dry out or change shape. If you have been advised otherwise, follow that advice.
How long does a crown or bridge last?
With good care, crowns and bridges can last many years. How long depends on your cleaning, gum health and habits such as grinding or biting hard things. Decay can still start at the edge of a crown, so brushing, flossing and regular checkups matter.
What should I do if my crown or bridge comes off?
Keep the crown or bridge safe and call the clinic for an appointment soon. Bring it with you, as it may be possible to fix it back. Do not glue it in yourself, and never use super glue. Until you are seen, avoid chewing hard food on that side, and avoid very hot or cold drinks if the tooth feels sensitive. If the tooth is painful or swollen, tell us when you call.
