Crowded teeth can be harder to clean, so plaque can build up in the tight spaces between them and raise the risk of cavities and gum problems. Gaps can trap food, and a bite that does not meet properly can wear some teeth faster than others. At Dantiki Dental Clinic, these problems are treated with metal braces or clear aligners, depending on what suits your teeth.

A treatment plan is made after examination and records (photos, X-rays and impressions or scans). Dr. Arti Kumari then explains which option suits your teeth, roughly how long it will take and what it will cost, before you decide. For families in New Gurgaon, regular adjustment visits stay close to home, with evening slots after school and work. For complex cases, a visiting orthodontist joins Dr. Arti at the clinic.

Patients come for braces from Sectors 85 to 95, Hayatpur and the rest of New Gurgaon, and from the Dwarka Expressway sectors. The clinic is open every day, including Sunday mornings.

Problems braces and aligners can treat

Crowded teeth

Teeth that twist or overlap because the jaw lacks room, which makes brushing and flossing harder.

Gaps between teeth

Spaces between teeth that trap food or make you hold back your smile.

Teeth sticking out

Upper front teeth that stick out over the lower ones and chip more easily in a fall.

Deep bite or underbite

Upper front teeth that cover most of the lower ones, or lower teeth that bite in front.

Open bite or crossbite

How braces treatment works at Dantiki

  1. Examine

Dr. Arti checks your teeth, gums and bite. Any cavities or gum problems are treated first, because braces need a healthy base.

  2. Record

Photos, X-rays and impressions or scans are taken to show how your teeth and jaws fit together.

  3. Plan

You get a plan covering braces or aligners, duration, visits and cost, including whether any teeth need removal to make space.

  4. Fit

Small brackets are bonded to the teeth and joined with a thin wire. This longer visit does not usually need an injection.

  5. Adjust

You return for regular adjustment visits, usually every few weeks, and the wire is adjusted step by step to move the teeth into place.

How long does braces treatment take?

Braces treatment usually takes 12 to 24 months, depending on the case. Mild crowding or small gaps tend to finish sooner, and complex bite problems can take longer. Missed visits and broken brackets add time, so the time Dr. Arti gives you is an estimate, not a fixed date. After the braces come off, you wear a retainer to hold the teeth in their new position, usually for many years.

Braces cost in Gurgaon: what affects it

The cost depends on the type of treatment and how complex your case is. Closing a small gap is a very different job from correcting crowding with a bite problem. The exact estimate is shared after examination and records, before treatment starts.

  • Metal braces or clear aligners
  • Severity of the crowding or bite problem
  • Expected length of treatment
  • Treatment needed first, such as fillings
  • Type of retainer after braces

Living with braces, and after

  • Soft food like khichdi, dal-rice and curd helps on sore days after fitting and adjustments.
  • Avoid hard and sticky foods such as chikki, gajak, toffees, chewing gum and ice.
  • Brush after every meal and use an interdental brush around the brackets.
  • If a bracket comes loose or a wire pokes, call the clinic instead of waiting.
  • Wear your retainer exactly as advised. Teeth can move at any age, so most people keep wearing a retainer at night long term.

Braces: questions patients ask

Do braces hurt?

Having braces fitted is not usually painful. Teeth often feel sore for three to five days after fitting and after each adjustment, as they start to move. Soft food helps, and you can take a simple painkiller if Dr. Arti advises it. Orthodontic wax covers any bracket that rubs your cheek. If soreness lasts longer than a few days, or a wire is digging in, call the clinic.

Am I too old for braces?

There is no fixed upper age limit. Adults can have braces as long as their gums and the bone around the teeth are healthy, so gum problems are treated first. Adult treatment can take a little longer. Clear aligners are also offered, if they suit your teeth.

What is the right age for braces for my child?

Get your child's bite checked around age 7, when crowding or jaw growth problems can first be spotted. Most children start braces once most adult teeth have come in, usually in the early teens. An early check does not always mean early braces.

Braces or clear aligners: which is right for me?

Metal braces treat a wide range of problems, including severe crowding, and work without you remembering to wear them. Clear aligners are removable trays that are hard to notice, but they must be worn 20 to 22 hours a day, and not every case suits them. Dr. Arti explains which one fits your case.

Will I need a retainer after braces?

Yes. Teeth tend to drift back towards their old position, especially in the first months after braces, and they keep moving slowly throughout life. A retainer, either removable or a thin wire fixed behind the front teeth, holds them in place. You usually wear it full time at first and later only at night. Most people need to keep wearing a retainer at night for many years, often for life, to keep their teeth straight.

Are there any risks with braces?

Most problems with braces can be prevented, but there are a few risks to know about. Plaque that collects around the brackets can cause cavities, swollen gums and white marks on the teeth that may not fully fade, so careful brushing and cutting down on sugary snacks and drinks matter throughout treatment. The roots of the teeth usually shorten very slightly as they move. This does not normally cause problems, but in rare cases it is more marked. If a tooth was injured in the past, tell Dr. Arti, as it may need extra checks. Teeth can also move back after treatment if retainers are not worn.

Can I play sport with braces?

Yes. For contact sports or games with a hard ball or stick, such as cricket or hockey, wear a mouthguard over your braces to protect your teeth, lips and braces. A mouthguard made to fit over braces is usually more comfortable than a bulky ready-made one, so ask Dr. Arti which type suits you. If a bracket breaks or a wire moves, call the clinic.
