A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth. A small post, usually made of titanium, is placed in the jaw bone, and a crown is fixed onto it once the bone heals. Once healed, it can look and work much like a natural tooth. The teeth beside the gap are not trimmed, as they would be for a bridge.
At Dantiki Dental Clinic and Implant Center, JMS Crosswalk Mall, Sector 93, Dr. Arti Kumari first checks whether an implant suits you. You get a plain explanation of each stage, the likely timeline and the other options, so you can decide calmly with your family. For complex cases, a visiting implant dentist joins Dr. Arti at the clinic.
Patients come for implants from Sectors 85 to 95, Hayatpur and the rest of New Gurgaon, and from the Dwarka Expressway sectors. The clinic is open every day, including Sunday mornings.

When an implant may help
One missing tooth
A gap where you would rather not trim the healthy teeth beside it.
Several missing teeth
Implants can hold a bridge across a longer gap, so each missing tooth may not need its own implant.
Tooth that must come out
A badly broken or decayed tooth cannot be saved, and you want a fixed tooth in its place.
A loose denture
In some cases, implants can help a denture sit more firmly, if the bone allows it.

How dental implant treatment works at Dantiki
Examine
We check your gums, bone and general health, and take a digital X-ray. A 3D scan, done at the clinic, may be advised to measure the bone.
Prepare
Any gum problems or decay are treated first. If there is not enough bone, a bone graft may be needed, which adds time. You are told the stages, visits and cost before anything starts.
Place
Under local anaesthesia, the implant post is placed in the bone. You should feel pressure but not sharp pain. If anything hurts, tell us and more anaesthetic can be given.
Heal
Over the next few months, the bone usually bonds firmly to the implant. Occasionally an implant does not bond and has to be removed, and Dr. Arti explains the options.
Restore
Once the implant is stable, a crown matched to your teeth is fixed onto it and your bite is checked.
How long does implant treatment take?
Most cases take several months from start to finish, mainly because the bone needs time to bond with the implant. Expect a consultation with X-ray, the placement visit, a short review, then one or two visits for the crown. If a tooth has to be removed first, or a bone graft is needed, it can take several months longer.
Dental implant cost in Gurgaon: what affects it
Implant cost depends on what your mouth needs, so we do not quote a figure before seeing you. After the examination and X-ray, Dr. Arti Kumari explains the plan and shares the exact estimate before treatment starts.
- Number of implants needed
- Whether a 3D scan is needed
- Gum or bone treatment needed first
- Type of crown or bridge fitted
- Any extraction before the implant
Caring for your implant
- Eat soft food for the first few days and chew on the other side.
- Avoid smoking: it slows healing and makes implant failure and gum infection around the implant more likely.
- For the first week, follow the cleaning advice you are given for the surgery area, then brush twice a day and clean gently around the implant at the gum line.
- Use floss or an interdental brush between the implant crown and the next tooth.
- Keep regular checkups and cleanings so the gum around the implant stays healthy.
- Call us if pain, swelling or bleeding gets worse instead of better, if you get a fever, or if your lip, chin or tongue stays numb after the anaesthetic should have worn off.

Implants: questions patients ask
Does getting a dental implant hurt?
The implant is placed under local anaesthesia, so you should feel pressure but not sharp pain. Once the numbness wears off, some soreness and swelling for a few days is common. Pain relief medicine, if advised, and a cold compress usually help. If pain gets worse instead of better, call us.
Can I get an implant if I have diabetes or I am over 60?
Often, yes. Age alone is not usually a reason to avoid implants. Your general health, gums and bone matter more. Well-controlled diabetes usually allows implants, with healing watched more closely. Diabetes that is not under control, smoking and untreated gum disease raise the risk of problems, so they are dealt with first. Tell us about every medicine you take, especially bone medicines for osteoporosis or cancer, and any past radiotherapy to the head or neck. The final answer comes after the examination and X-ray.
Why would I need a 3D scan for an implant?
A regular X-ray shows the bone in two dimensions. A 3D scan also shows its width and where nerves and sinuses sit, which helps place the implant safely. If the bone is too thin, a bone graft may be advised first, which adds several months. The scan uses more radiation than a regular dental X-ray, so it is taken only when needed. If advised, it is done at the clinic.
Implant, bridge or denture: which is right for a missing tooth?
It depends on your bone, the teeth around the gap and your budget. An implant leaves neighbouring teeth untouched but needs a few months of healing. A bridge is fixed and quicker, but the teeth beside the gap are trimmed to hold it. A denture is removable and usually costs less.
How long does a dental implant last?
With good cleaning and regular checkups, implants can last many years. It depends on gum health, smoking, grinding and general health. Gum infection around an implant can loosen it, just as gum disease loosens natural teeth. The crown may wear and need replacing one day, which is simpler than replacing the implant.
Can a dental implant fail?
It can, although most implants do well. Occasionally an implant does not bond with the bone in the first months and has to be removed. Later, gum infection around the implant (peri-implantitis) can cause bone loss and loosen it. The risk is higher with smoking, diabetes that is not under control, past gum disease and poor cleaning. Tell us early if the gum around an implant bleeds or swells, you notice a bad taste, or the implant feels loose.
