Brushing removes soft plaque, but once plaque hardens into tartar, a toothbrush cannot shift it. Tartar builds up along the gum line and behind the lower front teeth, and keeps the gums irritated. Plaque and tartar are a common reason for bleeding gums, bad breath and yellow deposits on teeth, even in people who brush twice a day.
At Dantiki Dental Clinic, tartar is removed with an ultrasonic scaler and the teeth are then polished. Dr. Arti Kumari also checks your teeth and gums, so problems like early cavities are caught while they are small. Evening and Sunday slots make regular cleanings easier to fit in for working families in New Gurgaon.
Patients come for cleaning from Sectors 85 to 95, Hayatpur and the rest of New Gurgaon, and from the Dwarka Expressway sectors. The clinic is open every day, including Sunday mornings.

How teeth cleaning works at Dantiki
Check
Dr. Arti checks your teeth and gums for tartar, cavities and gum pockets. A digital X-ray is taken if something needs a closer look.
Scale
An ultrasonic scaler loosens tartar above and just below the gum line. You feel buzzing and a cold water spray.
Polish
A polishing paste removes leftover surface stains and leaves the teeth feeling smooth.
Guide
You are shown which areas your brushing misses, and how to clean between teeth with floss or an interdental brush.
Review
If your gums have deep pockets, a deeper cleaning of the roots under the gums (scaling and root planing) is planned and explained first. It may need local anaesthesia and more than one visit.
How long does a cleaning take?
A routine scaling and polishing is usually done in one visit of about 30 to 45 minutes. With heavy tartar or gum disease, the cleaning may be split into two or more visits, or deeper cleaning under the gums may be advised. The gums are rechecked a few weeks later.
Teeth cleaning cost in Gurgaon: what affects it
Cleaning cost depends mainly on how much tartar there is and the health of your gums. A routine cleaning is simpler than treating gum disease, which may need deeper cleaning over more visits. The exact estimate is shared after examination, before treatment starts.
- Amount of tartar and staining
- Routine cleaning or deeper gum treatment
- Number of visits needed
- X-ray, if one is needed
After your cleaning
- Mild sensitivity to cold is common, especially where tartar covered the roots. It usually settles within a few weeks, and a toothpaste for sensitive teeth can help.
- Gums may bleed slightly for a day or two, so keep brushing gently.
- Brush twice a day with a soft brush, angled towards the gum line.
- Clean between your teeth daily with floss or an interdental brush.
- Call the clinic if pain, bleeding or swelling gets worse after a few days.

Cleaning: questions patients ask
Does scaling weaken teeth or make them loose?
No. Scaling removes tartar, not enamel, and it does not loosen healthy teeth. Tartar holds bacteria that inflame the gums and, over time, can destroy the bone that supports teeth. If that has already happened, a tooth may feel looser for a while once the tartar is gone, until the gums firm up. As swollen gums settle, they can shrink slightly, so small gaps or some sensitivity may appear. These come from the gum disease, not the cleaning.
How often should I get my teeth cleaned?
There is no single rule. Many adults are advised a checkup and cleaning about every six to twelve months. If you have gum disease or diabetes, smoke or chew tobacco, or wear braces, you may need it more often, sometimes every three to six months. Some people build tartar faster than others, so Dr. Arti will suggest a gap that suits you.
Is teeth cleaning painful?
Most people find scaling comfortable. You feel vibration, cold water and some scraping. Sensitive teeth or deep tartar can make some areas uncomfortable, and you can ask for a pause at any time. For deeper cleaning under the gums, the area can be numbed with local anaesthesia.
Why do my gums bleed when I brush?
Bleeding gums are usually a sign of gingivitis, early gum inflammation caused by plaque and tartar at the gum line. Many people then avoid brushing that area, which makes it worse. A cleaning removes the tartar, and with gentle daily brushing the bleeding usually settles within one to two weeks. If it continues, your gums bleed without brushing, or you also bruise easily, tell Dr. Arti or your doctor. Some medicines, such as blood thinners, can make gums bleed more easily.
Will cleaning make my teeth whiter?
Cleaning removes tartar and surface stains from tea, coffee and tobacco, so teeth often look brighter and closer to their natural shade. It does not change the natural colour of your teeth. If you want them lighter than that, teeth whitening is a separate treatment, and a cleaning is usually done first.
Is it safe to get my teeth cleaned during pregnancy?
Yes. Dental care, including checkups and cleanings, is considered safe and important during pregnancy. It often helps, because hormone changes can make gums swollen and more likely to bleed, and you may need cleanings more often. Tell us as soon as you know you are pregnant, along with your due date, any health conditions and any medicines you take, so Dr. Arti can plan your care around your pregnancy.
